Cuneo: other steps to become an eco-friendly town

CUNEO ON FOOT AND BY BIKE

The most rational system to get about Cuneo is by bike. The latest survey on this issue shows that cycling is faster than driving for distances up to 5 km. In Cuneo 90% of the inhabitants live within 5 km from Piazza Galimberti (the main central square). Over the last few years some project have been worked out with the aim of encouraging the use of bikes and bike lanes, both within the town and along the Parco Fluviale (Riverside Park), as well as the bike sharing service (Bicincittà).

CAR PARKS

In order to develop alternative solutions to pollution and  the waste of petrol, car parks have been built along the outskirts of the town of Cuneo offering a free PARK and RIDE service, every 10 minutes, which connects the car parks to the historic centre. With the implementation of the Speed 30 Zone also the new car park in the East-West area of Cuneo, of recent construction will be linked to the centre, free of charge.

PEDIBUS

To reduce pollution coming from the cars, the
town of Cuneo promoted the “Pedibus” Project, by
which children can walk to school accompanied by an adult.
At the moment, this project is active in three schools
in the province of Cuneo:
at the Primary Schools in Viale degli Angeli and
Madonna dell’Olmo, and at the Middle School in San Rocco.
